“Indulge yourself in warm Albay” is their tourism slogan. Famously known for its Majestic Mount Mayon Volcano as Bicol’s pride, they also take pride in their authentic spicy foods, which Bicol Express originated. Albay feast of cultures, cuisines, and crafts being famous from the place.
However, if you can only squeeze in one day to go around the city, here are some of the quick city’s top spots.
Daraga Church, an Old Spanish colonial church situated in a hill with a perfect panorama view of the well-known Mayon, and is one of the most beautiful churches in the Philippines. It was made out of volcanic rocks in 1772 by Franciscan friars and is under the patronage of Our Lady of Gate.
Lignon Hill Nature Park, an ideal place for sweeping 360 views of Legazpi, this hill boasts of an ‘extreme experience zone, with its zip lines, rappelling, a hanging bridge, ATV rides, paintball, and trekking.
Ideally, the best time to visit Albay is early to mid-January, specifically in Cagsawa Ruins, at 8 AM -10 PM to achieve the best scenery. Getting to Albay is just straightforward either by plane, by bus, or by ferries, depending on your origin.
